It matters who assesses your trees

Jul 6, 2025

A lot of arborists are afraid of risk assessment and would rather just cut down your tree than accept any responsibility for  assessment. This video gives great information as to how this works.

survey results

The survey referenced in the video is interesting, and shows why Arbor Doctor is different from a vast majority of tree companies. As you can see in the survey, virtually everyone does tree pruning, tree removal, storm damage, and stump grinding. These are all sevices Arbor Doctor can facilitate but, with the exception of smaller tree pruning, does not perform. Very few companies do legal work, appraisal, risk assessment (shouldn't any company working on your trees be doing some degree of risk assessment?), or consulting, all services Arbor Doctor does provide.

A tree company which only does tree pruning, removal, storm damage, and stump grinding has an incentive to tell you your tree needs to be pruned or removed, whether it does or not. How else are they going to make any money? Would you want a doctor who does not do assessment or diagnosis, but only does surgery and amputations?

At Arbor Doctor, we take what we do seriously, and we do what most other tree companies can't or don't. I (Ron) have the top credentials in the tree care industry, and thousands of continuing education hours. That means something. Arbor Doctor ISA Certified Arborist Mandi Ganje and I both have the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification, as well as the Prescription Pruning Qualification from the Florida Chapter of ISA.

Yes, you can get "free estimates" from many companies but what are you really getting? It isn't free.

You get what you pay for.
