Do I want an estimate or opinion?

An estimate is a price for a pre-described service. An opinion is an assessment based on an evaluation and may or may not recommend further action be taken.

Free estimates are often offered because you, the customer, are describing what is to be estimated. Free opinions are not offered by Arbor Doctor because our opinions have real value based upon our years of education and experience. Some companies may offer "free" estimates AND opinions. Or do they? In many cases the "opinion" offered by such companies is nothing more than a sales pitched designed to convince you to buy a product. Are you really saving money if you get a free estimate and "buy" services which are not needed or may even be harmful?

Arbor Doctor owner Ron Rothhaas has had the unfortunate life experience of working with companies which paid high commissions to salesmen to offer "free" estimates and opinions and sell services at all costs. These salesmen were trained in sales and had minimal horticultural training. They often told customers they had problems which did not exist or offered solutions which did not work because they had a commission goal to meet.

If you want to be sold a service you may or may not need, look for a free estimate. If you want an honest assessment based on the best knowledge and experience available, call us for an opinion.

Arbor Doctor does offer free estimates on certain services such as plant health care.
